Advanced Medical Imaging is all about PACS.

PACS is an acronym for Picture Archiving and Communication System.  The system is an electronic network connecting imaging modalities such as MRI, CT, Ultrasound etc. to computers that display the images for all physicians.  The system also connects image storage and archiving components  and Radiology or external Hospital Information Systems (RIS) and (HIS) that contain medical record information.

This is a large step to optimize your health care.

Advanced Medical Imaging is also using Computed Radiography, also known as CR,  to provide Diagnostic Radiography  in place of standard X-ray processes which use film. Computed Radiography is a filmless imaging modality which uses a high sensitivity detector to record your x-ray image and computers to extract, enhance, manipulate and store the image data in a digital format.

Better care with technology.

All Advanced Medical Imaging facilities employ PACS and CR to enhance your care through thorough acquisition, communication and diagnosis.

Any medical image can be taken by any method, in any AMI facility and the images  and reports can be accessed, read or viewed by any authorized Radiologist or Physician at any time anywhere in the city or even the world.

When visiting an AMI facility you will have your exam performed in much the same way as you always would.  However, your images will be digital instead of on the traditional film.  When your exam is complete, a radiologist will be viewing your medical images on dedicated digital monitors, which provide the doctor with special diagnostic and enhancement tools to aid in his evaluation.  If the radiologist has a need to consult with other specialists, he can do so through the Internet and all physicians can be looking at the same image, at the same time while discussing your care needs. All of this can happen before you even leave the facility.  No more film to take everywhere and possibly get lost in the process.  If you have a need to take images with you they can be provided by film or compact disc.

Your privacy and record security is a must.

All of your medical images are stored in a highly secure environment at several locations to provide redundancy and disaster recovery in the event that an image archive was to fail.  All digital information is transmitted and saved to independent archive systems in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

Advanced Medical Imaging is not just our name.  It is our profession.

It is our goal to provide our patients with state-of-the-art professional radiology care.
